It is hard to believe the 2018 – 2019 school year is nearly complete! We have been having so much fun with active learning, performances, events, and so much more, we hardly realized how much time has passed. Before we know it, kindergarten and fifth grade graduation will be upon us. Prior to closing out a wonderful school year, let us pause and reflect on some of our incredible events and accomplishments of the last few months.
Kindergarten through fifth grade Spring Performances directed by both Mrs. Metzger and Studio East took place April 2nd through 4th. Mrs. Metzger directed our kindergarten performances which included numbers from The Aristocats and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Studio East directed our first and second grade performances including James and the Giant Watermelon, Matilda and the Super Kids, Fantastic Mr. Alien, and Charlie and the Video Game Factory as well as our third through fifth grade musical, Beauty and the Beast. It was months of preparation and we are so proud of all those who performed and gave their all. All of our students performed beautifully and certainly rose to the occasion. Way to go!
The Parent Association hosted a wonderful elementary mixer/ movie night featuring The Incredibles 2 and Hotel Transylvania 3 (in addition to a game room!). Parents socialized and enjoyed an evening getting to know each other while the children had an evening of pizza and fun. We are very grateful to both our wonderful Parent Association for organizing such a lovely night and to our staff volunteers who donated their time to make this event happen. The buffet that was set up was truly one to remember!
In addition to our elementary parent mixer, the Parent Association also hosted a preprimary parent mixer. On February 7th, we had a fantastic time with our preprimary parents as well! While parents were mixing, students were attending an action-packed superhero camp including cosplayers that entertained the children with games and activities. A big thank you to the Parent Association, again, for bringing us all together.
The Bellewood campus just completed our 2018-2019 Art Show and raised $7,541.00, enough to fund thirty surgeries! This event was a great success and we were able to fund eleven more surgeries than last year. Our Cedar Crest community should be very proud of what this event accomplished. The children and teachers put so much effort into making a product they could truly be proud of and our family contributions benefited those that very much need the help. Congratulations on changing lives to everyone who contributed. You are truly heroes.
This last week has been incredibly busy celebrating both our Cedar Crest Moms and Staff, with a combination of Mother’s Day events and Teacher Appreciation Week. Our ‘Paint with Mom’ events have been most memorable and enjoyed by both moms and students, alike. Our staff have also been enjoying the week’s “Appreciation” events and feel grateful to be a part of such a wonderful, caring, and appreciative community.
Next up, we are looking forward to Dance Week hosted (again) by our wonderful Parent Association, preprimary performances, Father’s Day celebrations, elementary fun fair and field day! The year may be coming to an end, but we are not slowing down with so much more fun to come.
Thank you all for your continuing support and GO OSPREYS!
