“Generations” Sculptures for Richard Artschwager
Jaroff Design worked on the engineering, custom architectural metal fabrication and integrated lighting system for famed artist Richard Artschwager’s site-specific sculptures, “Generations,” commissioned for the plaza of the University of Madison-Wiscon’s campus art museum. In addition to working as architectural metal fabricators, our traditional area of expertise, the artworks called for living pine trees to become part of the product, so our production efforts expanded to include the careful dynamics of plant life, developing enclosures that would be able to sustain and withstand the natural processes of growth and decay. Each tree was then paired with custom light fixtures, shaped like glowing spheres, which rose above the sculptures to illuminate the piazza.
For the past thirty-eight plus years, Jaroff Design, under the management of founder Joseph Jaroff, has led the design, fabrication, installation and coordination of custom architectural glass and metal for the construction, architecture, interior design and art communities.
